This Planning Guide is designed specifically for a Catholic Funeral Liturgy showing reverence to funeral rites expressing the Christian hope in eternal life in Christ and the resurrection of the body.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love.  He destined us for adoption to sonship as his own through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will.  Ephesians 1:3-5

The loss of a loved one often brings much pain and sorrow however many people, after attending a Catholic funeral often describe the service as ‘beautifully reverent’.  The Catholic Church professes hope in the face of death and considers the funeral rites a privileged opportunity to return to God the gift of the dearly departed with the aid of our prayers.  By means of the Funeral rites it has been the practice of the church, as a tender mother, not simply to commend the dead to God but also to raise high the hope of its children and to give witness to its own faith in the future resurrection of the baptized with Christ.”  (Congregation for Divine Worship)

It is our desire to provide you with resources that are both comforting and informative as you plan a funeral service for your loved one while honoring traditions and teaching of the church.  This planning guide will serve as a reference to all the information needed to honor your loved one.  Your local parish, along with Springfield Funeral Home are here to help guide you and your family through the preparation process of your loved one.

Springfield Funeral Home has been serving the Central Okanagan community for over 40 years journeying with many families at a difficult time.  We believe we are uniquely qualified to serve the Catholic Community and are keenly aware and sensitive to the needs and practices surrounding the Catholic Funeral Liturgy.  Direct communication with both the parish and Springfield Funeral Home is recommended.

If then, we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him.’  Romans 6:8
