The Lord's Prayer
The Lord's Prayer is the most beloved prayer of all Christians. The prayer was in answer to the innocent ignorance of the Apostles who interrupted the Lord during the Sermon on the Mount to ask Him to "teach us how to pray". The spoken unprepared answer of the Lord to this question was destined to captivate the hearts of Christians and become the model of devotional worship. This prayer is both for its content and its poetical expression, a perfect example of all prayers recorded in the Bible.
When men are in fear, the Lord's Prayer gives them courage; when they are thinking of mighty things, the Lord's Prayer reassures them. In war or peace, in tranquility or disturbance, the Lord's Prayer is a comforting companion.
Otchenash, shchoyesynanebesakh,

I ne vvedynas u cpokucu,
ale vyzvolynas vid lukavoho.

Our Father, Who art in heaven.
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
